Ryan Garcia Denies PED Use Following Positive Test Reports

Ryan Garcia reportedly tested positive for the banned PED Ostarine for two tests on April 19th, a day before his fight against Devin Haney on the 20th.

Positive Ostarine Tests

Dan Rafael reports that the banned performance-enhancing drug Ostarine showed a positive from a VADA test for Ryan Garcia’s fight against Haney. If Ryan was using a supplement, he would need to produce it so that it could be tested for the Ostarine substance.

Ryan denies that he took anything, and he feels that people are attacking him to try and discredit his win. He says he won’t give Haney a rematch because he beat him “fair and square.”

Of course, that’s not going to stop Haney, his dad, Bill, and their supporters from using Ryan’s positive tests to push hard for a rematch. Devin and Bill may need to campaign like a couple of politicians if they want to persuade Ryan to give them a rematch.

The WBC can’t do anything to force Ryan to fight Haney again because he didn’t capture their world title, given that he came in 3.2 lbs overweight. So, there’s no title to strip from Ryan, and they can’t force him to give Haney a rematch.

“Ryan Garcia tested positive for the banned PED Ostarine in a VADA test related to the Haney fight,” said Dan Rafael on X.

“Failed for Ostarine in 2 urine tests on April 19 & post-fight April 20. April 19 sample also (from VADA letter) “screened positive but was not confirmed for 19-Norandrosterone pending IRMS analysis currently being run.”

Ryan’s Response: Denial and Accusations

“I came on here to address this claim that I cheated. Everybody knows I don’t cheat,” said Ryan Garcia on X, reacting to the news of his positive test. “Why didn’t they come up with this test before if they found it before?

“Why would they let me step in the ring as a cheater and come out with a victory, and they post this? Again, these are people that are attacking me for whatever reason. I’ve never taken a steroid in my life.”

If Ryan does receive a suspension, it’ll keep him out of the ring for a while, and foil his plans on making a quick return to action. He’d mentioned wanting to fight Errol Spence and Gervonta Davis.
