Ryan Garcia posted on social media today, letting his followers know he raked in $50 million for the Devin Haney fight. For his part, Haney got a sweet $35 million in a losing effort last Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The $50M that Kingry pulled in might include the $2 million that Ryan bet on the fight, which he says netted him $12 million.

In the last year, Ryan has made close to $100 million, making him one of the top earners in boxing in the U.S. At this rate, Ryan could be heading towards a billion if he stays active and keeps winning.

Haney did well for himself with his hefty payday, which is likely far more than he’s made for any of his previous fights.

Haney Wants Another Shot at the Cash Cow

Haney (31-1, 15 KOs) is already asking for a rematch, and it’s no longer why. The WBC light welterweight champion isn’t going to get similar money defending against his mandatory Sandor Martin in his next fight if he intends on keeping his belt.

Fighting Sandor won’t keep Haney rolling in the dough to allow him to realize his dream of moving to the wealthy Hamptons in Long Island, New York to live on billionaires’ row.

Given Devin’s popularity, the World Boxing Council will probably let him fight someone else next if he asks for an exception. If Ryan does give Haney a rematch, it’ll likely wait until next year. Devin’s dad, Bill Haney, has already said that he’s going to take a break.

That could be due to injuries or the money he made. If he made $35 million, as Ryan claims, there’s no rush for Haney to return. Sitting out for the rest of the year will allow Haney to spend some of his $35 million windfall. I don’t blame Haney. With that kind of money, who wouldn’t want to take a nice long break to travel and purchase real estate?

With that kind of money, it’s not surprising why MMA fighters are drifting over to boxing to get the big paydays because they’re not getting similar cash in their sport. Hopefully, the Saudis don’t indulge them like they did with Francis Ngannou, and turn the sport into a circus.
